Story · The Discipline of One Page
Most failed projects die from the same symptom: every person on the team is carrying a different "concept" in their head. The boss is picturing premium, engineering is picturing a tech showcase, marketing is picturing cheap and high-volume — same name on the door, three different products in flight. The discipline of the concept card is blunt: compress the whole concept onto one page, into five boxes — target customer, core need, value proposition, key features, differentiation. No box left blank. Filling it in is painful on purpose, because it forces you to confront the questions you have been blurring past: who exactly are we selling to? Why are we better? Once the team genuinely aligns on this card, every downstream design choice finally has a shared target — clarity is the prerequisite for convergence.

Concept-Strength Radar: Four Dimensions at a Glance

The four corners of the radar are need intensity, value clarity, differentiation, and feasibility. Drag the sliders on the left and watch the shape shift — the larger and rounder the area, the stronger the concept. A dented corner is the weakest link you should shore up first.

The Concept Card in the Real World

Concept definition: turn a fuzzy spark into a concrete artifact the team can discuss and review — everyone is now aiming at the same target.
Value proposition: the heart of it is "who, what, why you win" — if you cannot state the value proposition cleanly, the concept usually does not hold up.
Concept review: line up several concept cards, score them on the same dimensions, drop the weak ones, advance the strong ones.
Diverge then converge: generate plenty of concepts up front, then use the concept card as the ruler to converge — open wide first, narrow down second.
一句话In One Line
An idea always looks smarter in your head than it really is — because fuzziness itself hides the holes. The concept card is brutal in exactly that way: it drains the fuzziness out. The moment you are forced to write "who is the target customer" and "why is the differentiation real", shaky concepts collapse on the spot. This is not bureaucracy; it is the cheapest stress test you will ever run — push the concept into a corner with one page before you spend a dollar on development. Only a concept that survives the card deserves to move forward.
Common Mistakes
A value proposition that reads "better, faster, cheaper". Pin it down to "for whom, solving what, on what edge" — slogans will not survive review.
Locking onto a single concept too early with no alternatives. Generate several cards in parallel, then converge them on the same ruler.
Treating the concept card as a one-off document and tossing it after kickoff. It is a living target — update it as VOC and validation evolve, and keep the whole team aligned.
